Lessons from the Universe

el baile con mexico

poem inspired by Sayulita & San Poncho playa

written by Gabriana Rose

Her breeze, a temptress in the air,

Her hue, a tranquil dream,

Her foam, a tender touch upon the shore, a mesmerizing stream.

With courage led by beating heart,

I leaped into her rhythm,

We've danced this one before,

I thought,

yet time, a shifting space.

Not long until I began to notice

that I was dancing in place.

Deeper drawn, her loud laughter echoed, a force I couldn't flee,

Urging me to grasp her words, to learn what she could be.

“Stay, my dear, embrace the lesson, surrender to my might,

Trust the ebb and flow of fate, relinquish fear's tight plight.”

Her crashing waves like a symphony, she's guiding me to see,

With eyes, ears, and body tuned, unlocking whispers key by key.

In patience and surrender,

Drifting further from the land,

I navigate the changing tide,

Each move a subtle chance.

“Hold on, my dear sunkissed child,

You must ride the ocean's swell,

And if you learn to dance this number, no longer will you dwell.”

Deep in her depths, a revelation sparked,

A realm I'd yet to know.

Releasing life's grip,

Trusting in her design,

Her lessons began to show.

My mind got silent,

My breath real slow,

The course corrected, so undetected,

and I began to move.

I felt her push, no longer shook,

I rode her towards the shore,

until she was done and with all her fun, a blessing I will count,

for she spit me out,

now covered in sand,

washed up with hermits on the land.

Filled with gratitude, oh what a chance, responding with newfound glow,

For in her tides and in her grace,

Her wisdom taught the art,

the practice and mastery of letting go.
